In Zen, there is a beautiful saying to guide seekers of reality and freedom.
In the beginning, the tree is a tree.
In the middle, the tree is no longer a tree
In the end, the tree is a tree !
hmmm…but the catch here is that the beginning and end are not quite the same. The period of confusion in the middle changes everything. Yet, it cant be avoided. Without confusion, there cant be clarity. Without bondage, there’s no freedom.
Today, I live in the city, work at a great global firm, have friends, party, travel, read, watch movies, ogle at Jessica Alba pics e.t.c. 10 years later, life still goes on, as it always does. The world has changed as well (and how!!) the past 10 years and so has my body, my reflexes and my emotions. The lightness of being a free spirit, however has remained, right through.
Till someone asked me a few weeks back, “How do we know that all this really matters” ?
I had come one full circle.
I started to teach. With that, my learning began as well, from where it left off.
Now, therefore….the Urban Monk diaries begin
