Most of us are familiar with horoscopes. Some of us also try out Palmistry, tarot card reading and other unique methods (like nadi reading).
Why do we do that? “to know our past and future, of course.”
Dumb me.
Unfortunately, that applies only for human beings. You know, I once had a lovely car. It was with me for many long years and I was very attached to it. It was just like a member of my family. So I am very keen to know its past and future. But the astrology experts laugh when I ask them for its horoscope.
Let’s go find out on our own. It must have a past and a future right? Just like you and me?
First we need to establish its date and time of birth.
We head off to the manufacturer. We ask him ‘when was my car born’? He gives us a funny look, throws a bunch of photographs on the table and leaves the room quickly. So we are left to do the job ourselves. Thankfully, the photos came with their own date and time stamp.
Ah! Here we are. We have arranged them in a sequence.
Hmm…Now, what do you think? In which frame was my car born? If you can point it out to me, I can establish my car’s date and time of birth.
By the way, there’s a small catch (as always).
Each of my car’s parts had a life of their own. The engine, the wheel, the door, the brakes, the air conditioner, the music system etc weren’t born together. They have their own story. To help me establish when my car was born, we need to establish when each part of the car was born. After all, we can’t leave them out of the car’s horoscope, can we?
Unfortunately, when we assemble all their horoscopes together, we get reel after reel of film. Can you please tell me now, in which frame my car was born? And in which frame it died?
Reflect:
Is it worth getting anxious about buying something new?
Should we be angry when things that are dear to us leave us?
Should we be attached to anything that comes to us?
Should we be sad when things fall apart and are useful no more?
Things are by nature, unending, unborn, unceasing; a stream of phenomenon, without a beginning or end.
That piece of salad you had for lunch today, could end up as your son a few months later.
They appear in a certain way, at a certain time to our consciousness, which is also changing all the time.
Why get anxious then? It is as it is.
Oh, no….see the time. It must be getting late. Thanks for joining me in my quest for my car’s horoscope.
And hey, I forgot to ask…..when were
you
born?
Wow!!
