Ryan was getting nervous about his progress in the treasure hunt.
“How many more clues are yet to come?” he asked anxiously
Well..I reckon we have about 40 more to go.
“That’s it?? Just another 40? What happens after that?”
The blog ends.
“Hey, no. you can keep it going, cant you?”
Well…When I started, I thought of giving 100 clues, and we are already done with 60 of them
“But why only 100 clues?”
(I laughed). I think it is already 100 too many.
“No, seriously. You can continue with the posts, right?”
I don’t know mate.
For the serious seeker, even 1 clue, read with complete attention, is more than enough.
For the casual reader, even a million clues may not help.
“Not so. Each clue can add more inputs. A reader’s knowledge increases accordingly“.
Hmm…Tell me..what needs all this knowledge?
“Huh? My mind, of course.”
In that case, I can safely tell you…
Your mind won’t increase with knowledge nor will it decrease due to lack of knowledge.
“But there must be some change to it, right?”, he insisted.
Whatever happens to it, it remains the mind.
All its thoughts, states and activities are only ‘fluctuations of the mind‘. Like ripples in a lake.
“Wow! That’s interesting. But if you stop at 100 clues, how will you know you have achieved the purpose of this blog?”
What purpose?
(His jaw dropped)
“You don’t know the purpose of this blog???”
We only search for a purpose when we want to justify our actions, Ryan.
For example: Here are some possible purposes that I can use to justify writing this blog.
1. because readers like you want to know my thoughts (how arrogant of me!)
2. because I am writing this for myself (how silly!)
3. because your grandchildren are going to read it, after they grow up. I am actually writing it for them (hope they like it too!)
4. because writing is my hobby (then, why don’t I write nursery rhymes?)
5. because I will come back to read this in my next birth and I want to leave clues for myself (Sci-fi treasure hunt?)
6. because I enjoy blogging for the heck of it (go get a life!)
7. because this will change the world (whose?)
8. because this blog is guaranteed to enlighten anyone who reads it (Enlightenment for dummies?)
9. because it is time for everyone to know the truth (what truth?)
10.because it is a teaching that cuts across religion, age, gender, race, nationality, culture and time (how humble!)
Why create a purpose out of nowhere?
And think you are now a ‘creator’ with a ‘purpose’?
That will only feed your ‘ego’ and muddle up your mind.
Why go through all that drama?
All I can truthfully say about this blog is –
Something led to this….
…and this will lead to something!
“But people need a sense of purpose to live their life. Is that wrong?”
I desire. I act.
Keep it simple.
Otherwise, you will start to judge others’ purpose and they will, in turn, judge yours.
Eventually, we will all end up arguing about each other’s purpose – and miss the content.
That is not the way to freedom.
“Then my life has no purpose?” (his jaw dropped)
(I smiled). You didn’t pay attention to what I said.
“I desire. I act” (he repeated it several times over, softly and thoughtfully)
(a few minutes later, he suddenly slapped himself hard!)
“Aha! I got it. Now I know”
Tell me
“What I refer to as my purpose is nothing else but my deepest desire”
Well done, Ryan.
You arrived at exactly the same insight that appeared in an ancient text, several thousand years ago.
In it was written …
You are what your deep, driving desire is.
As your desire is, so is your will.
As your will is, so is your deed.
As your deed is, so is your destiny.
“Wow!. Looks like I am on to something, huh?”
Of course.
To know your life’s purpose, know your deepest desire
See how your deepest desire tries to fulfill itself through your life.
You will then have a life-long supply of clues.
“Well..Thankfully..There are still 40 more posts of such purposeless writing to help me find the treasure”, he said dryly.
39, (I corrected him). You didn’t count this one.
I certainly agree to “the purpose” in life …. Some how my desires have grown to read your thoughts … Its disheartning to realize that the treasure hunt is getting over soon.
You may if you wish … But there is no restriction on starting a new one !! A new treasure hunt with a new purpose … and the deepest desire of any human kind is “Connect”. The idea is to remain connected. And we shall through your thoughts and clues you send to us. Its like a baby connected through the umbilical chord in its mother’s womb.
Ya you might say they get disconnected after a certain point but do you know that they are still invisibly connected with their mothers all their lives. A mother remain a mother no matter what. Please do not take away your clues. Not because we’d need more enlightenment but because our purpose to be with you is to stay connected.
I guess enlightenment for some happened when they read the 1st or the 12th or the 45th or this 61st clue you sent across….. who knows if someone might get enlightened at the 1068th of your clue.
Clue is only one …. “Accept life the way it is, don’t question and experience what comes along, learn and appreciate, do not complaint and pay your gratitude always. A moment lived in content and with absolute happiness is enlightenment and so do not think enlightenment will happen at a given certain stage in life.Respect time, task and focus on it. Eat healthy food, exercise and sleep well and on time, Be silent for some time in a day, observe and communicate exactly what you mean and life will unfold absolutely how we wish it to.”
We wish and desire you to keep writing, now it depends on our deep desire weather you’ll continue or you shall start with another treasure hunt :)) !!
